Storm Agnes has arrived in the UK - here’s when the strongest winds will hit Birmingham

Storm Agnes is set to cause more travel chaos this week as the Met Office forecasts “disruptive” 80mph winds with “power cuts possible” is some parts of the UK.

In Birmingham and the West Midlands, a yellow weather warning for wind has been issued for Wednesday (27 September) and Thursday (28 September).

It is in force from 12pm until 7am, but weather maps show the intensity of gusts around the country will start to build tonight on Wednesday with rainfall expected hours later.

Gusts of up to 38mph are expected to hit the West Midlands region region at around 10pm on Wednesday (September 27) with heavy rain also forecast this evening.

Motorists are being warned to stay vigilant for falling trees, tiles blown from roofs and other flying debris.

Birmingham Airport told passengers it is “preparing” for the weather and will be “operating in line with our usual extreme weather procedures.”

Here’s your hour-by-hour forecast for Wednesday

From 2pm to 3pm rain is forecast with heavy rain forecast at 3pm. There will then be light showers between 5pm and 6pm this evening, with heavy showers once again forecast at 7pm. Some light rain is also expected throughout the night.

Wind gusts are expected to reach up to 30mph at 3pm today, 34mph at 4pm and 36mph at 6pm. Winds could also reach up to 37mph between 7pm and 9pm.

The strongest winds are forecast this eveing at aound 10pm when gusts are expected to reach up to 38mph. Strong winds are expected to continue through the night but will die down by early morning.
