An urgent 63-hour cold health alert has been issued for the entire Midlands area.

Yellow alerts for the West Midlands and East Midlands have been issued.

The alerts are in effect from 26 November at 6pm to 29 November at 9am

It means the forecast weather, which is set to see temperatures plummet, could have minor impacts on health and social care services, including:

  • increased use of healthcare services by vulnerable people
  • greater risk to life of vulnerable people

Cold health alerts are issued between November 1 and March 31.

The UKHSA says that this week's forecast weather is likely to have impacts on health and social care services, including increased use of healthcare services by vulnerable people and greater risk to life of vulnerable people.

There is no snow forecast this week in the region, but overnight temperatures are expected to drop further.
