As Birmingham enters the third week of the new year, temperatures are expected to remain colder than what we have gotten used to according to the Met Office weather forecast. The cold weather will however be accompanied by some sunshine and drier days across the West Midlands.

As the weekend’s wintry showers are clearing to leave early Monday (January 16), the most depressing day of the year is looking to bring plenty of sunshine and dry weather in the afternoon, hopefully helping to ease the gloom of Blue Monday. While initially quite breezy, the winds are looking to become lighter as the day progresses and temperatures will remain around 4°C

Towards the evening, most of the West Midlands will remain dry, but a few wintry showers are likely to hit Staffordshire. As the day comes to an end, overnight frost and colder temperatures will sweep across the region with temperatures dropping to around -4°C, however, according to the Met Office, the ‘feels like’ temperature will drop further to -5°C on Tuesday morning..

Tuesday (January 17) will likely remain dry and sunny with a light breeze and colder weather across the region. It is however not possible to rule out a slight risk of wintry showers, especially in the most northwestern parts of the region. Temperatures will reach a maximum of 3°C throughout the day.

As we reach the middle of the week, the weather is turning windier again with some wintry showers sweeping across the region. Thursday and Friday will once again remain dryer and sunnier, but as we head into the weekend, there is a renewed chance of rain.

Temperatures will likely be a bit warmer over the weekend, with Sunday looking to reach 9°C. There will however most likely be quite a lot of overnight frost across the entire region.
