Birmingham is set to bask in warmer weather over the next few days despite a chilly start across the UK this week - with a “mini heatwave” on the way. According to the Met Office, temperatures in the city could peak as high as 18C with spells of sunshine throughout Wednesday (May 17), which are likely to continue until Monday (May 22).

The Met Office said conditions should become more settled with sunny spells across the country as the week goes on due to high pressure, which will bring a “slight uptick” in temperatures from midweek.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “Into the weekend, a high-pressure ridge is most likely to extend across the UK, resulting in a good amount of fine and dry weather for most. Into the next week, a continuation of these settled conditions is expected, with fine and dry weather for many.”

So, when will the mini heatwave hit and what will the weather look like for the next in Birmingham? Here’s the 5-day Met Office forecast.
