Birmingham Weather: Met Office issues an update on August Bank Holiday weekend forecast

With the August Bank Holiday weekend (August 26-28) coming up, many of us Brummies are likely to have plans in place to enjoy the long weekend and make the most out of the last days of summer.

If your plans are outdoors in Birmingham, the weather will play a huge part in preparing for the events like whether to carry some rain-proof gear or bottles of sunscreen with you. The Met Office has announced the weather for the upcoming long weekend.

Friday (August 25)

It will be drier on Friday with sunny intervals. The maximum and minimum temperatures on Friday expected to be 18 C degrees and 11 C degrees. It will be 11C at 7am with the temperature going up to 15 C around 10am and further up to 18 C at 4pm before coming down to 13 C at 10pm.

Wind speed is expected to be between five to nine mph during the day and visibility will remain very good throughout. Pollen levels will be high on Friday and humidity will be at 85% around 7am and go down to 72% at 10am. Around 4pm, it will be 58% and 81% at 10pm.

Saturday (August 26)

There will be sunshine and scattered showers on Saturday (August 26), which could turn heavy and thundery. The maximum and minimum temperatures on Saturday are expected to be 18 C degrees and 11 C degrees. It will be 11° at 7am before going up to 16° at 4pm and go down to 13° at 10pm.

Wind speed is expected to be 6-11 mph during the day and visibility will be between good and very good. Pollen levels will be high on Saturday and humidity will be 93% at 7am and go down to 66% at 4pm before going to 85% at 10pm.

Sunday (August 27)

It will be largely drier on Sunday (August 27) with bright spells and the odd lighter shower. It will be a maximum of 17 C degrees and a minimum of 11. It will be 11° at 7am before going up to 17° at 4pm and go down to 14° at 10pm.

Wind speed is expected to be 6-10 mph during the day and visibility will be between good and very good. Pollen levels will be high and humidity will be 92% at 7am and go down to 65% at 4pm before going to 83% at 10pm.

Monday (August 28)

On Monday, the maximum will be 19 C and the minimum will be 11. It will be 12° at 7am before going up to 19° at 4pm and go down to 14° at 10pm. Wind speed is expected to be 5-7 mph during the day and visibility will be between good and very good. Humidity will be 94% at 7am and go down to 62% at 4pm before going to 82% at 10pm.

UK long range weather forecast for Sunday to Tuesday

The Met Office said: “A mixed end to the month is likely with some sunshine possible but also the potential for some cloud and a few scattered showers. Rain and showers could move into the north-west of the country over the bank holiday weekend, proceeding east and south across the country into the following week. Temperatures for the end of month are likely to be close to, or a little below, average for the time of year.”
