A weather warning is in place for Birmingham this bank holiday.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms in Birmingham and the West Midlands on Sunday (May 26).

Despite a relatively warm bank holiday weekend ahead in the city, the weather warning is in place on Sunday across much of the region.

The Met Office has forecast thunder in Birmingham at around 10am and 1pm tomorrow. Heavy rain is also forecast on Sunday morning with light rain and spells on sunshine throughout Sunday afternoon.

Fortunately, the weather is expected to be drier on bank holiday Monday with sunhsine forecast, although some light rain is possible. Temperatures are expected to range between 15 degrees and 18 degrees throughout the long weekend in Birmingham.

Tonight, May 25:

Dry at first this evening, though cloud and rain approaching from the west later and continuing through the night. Feeling milder. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Sunday:

A cloudy start with patchy rain, gradually breaking up into sunny spells and scattered showers. These heavy at times with the chance of thunder and gusty winds. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Fewer showers on Monday, easing by the afternoon. A strengthening breeze and outbreaks of rain on Tuesday, followed by showers or longer spells of rain on Wednesday.
