Birmingham freezing fog Met Office weather warning - temperatures set to plummet below zero

The Met Office weather warning is for freezing fog in Birmingham and other parts of England and Wales.

The Met Office has issued a yellow status weather warning of fog for Birmingham.

The warning is valid from 7.00pm on Monday to 12.00pm to Tuesday.

“Areas of fog, some of it dense and freezing, will develop during Monday evening and overnight, persisting into Tuesday morning in places,” said the Met Office.

“Visibility may dip below 100 metres in some locations.

“Fog will tend to lift into low cloud in many areas on Tuesday, though a few spots may stay foggy into the afternoon,” concluded the Met Office.

Temperatures in Birmingham are also set to drop below -2°C freezing over the coming days.

Locals should expect feel-like temperatures will drop to -3°C overnight.

Wednesday will see temperatures return to normal for this time year however things will turn cold again on Thursday when feels-like temperatures will dip to as low as -3°C.

This Evening and Tonight:

It will be a dry night with clear skies allowing temperatures to quickly fall after dark. Mist, fog or freezing fog then develops fairly widely. Temperatures falling close to or slightly below freezing for many. Minimum temperature -3 °C.

Tuesday:

A cold and frosty start Tuesday with mist and fog slowly clearing clear as sunny spells develop. Temperatures close the average for mid-January, but locally cold where fog persists. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

A band of cloud and rain sinks south Wednesday with clearer skies following. Generally cloudy with sunny or clear spells both Thursday and Friday with overnight frost for some.
