With this in mind, many of us will be keen to know what the forecast looks like for the coming days. The Met Office has released its forecast for Birmingham and the West Midlands which so far has a daily summary up to Boxing Day.

After the cold snap earlier this month, it looks as though the recent milder temperatures will remain for at least the first couple of days of the festive period. Temperatures could reach a high of  9C on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. this should drop to around 6C by Boxing Day.

For those of you who will be heading out and about between Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, you’re in luck. As of today (December 22) it looks set to be a dry and relatively bright period, with most of the sunshine expected on Boxing Day.

What has the Met Office said about the Christmas forecast?

Met Office deputy chief meteorologist, Dan Harris, said; “From mid-week we expect to see a north / south split develop with colder weather arriving in the north, while the south hangs onto the mild conditions. There are, however, large uncertainties concerning where the boundary between these two air masses will eventually end up, especially as we head into the Christmas weekend.

“Uncertainty in the weather forecast details is not unusual at 6-7 days out, and the current weather patterns are heightening those uncertainties. Confidence in the forecast is unlikely to increase until mid-week at the earliest and a range of outcomes are still possible.“
