Alarming crime stats have revealed the most ‘dangerous’ places in the West Midlands

The West Midlands is facing significant challenges with crime, according to a new study by Churchill Support Services.

The region has an overall crime rate of 95.1 offences per 1000 people, ranking it as the fifth worst area in the UK. Birmingham has a staggering crime rate of 134.3 offences per 1000 people, totalling 152,697 crimes.

Nearby Sandwell also struggles with high crime, especially in towns like Smethwick, which suffers a rate of 138.6 per 1000. Oldbury surpasses these with a rate of 143.3 per 1000 residents. Major hotspots include Brownhills, registering the highest crime rate in the region at 151.5 offences per 1000 people. While theft and violent crimes dominate, there's a silver lining: overall crime in the West Midlands has decreased by 3% over the past year.
