West Midlands Police are appealing for help to trace the victim of a serious assault in Birmingham on Friday afternoon (11 February).

Officers received reports of a young man being headbutted and attacked by someone with a knife in Burney Lane, Washwood Heath, at around 3.10pm.

It’s believed the victim - thought to be Asian and in his mid to late teens - suffered a knife wound but he’d left the area when police arrived.

Following quick-time investigations a 15-year-old boy was arrested nearby on suspicion of wounding. He has since been released under investigation.

Despite CCTV and other enquiries in the area police said they are still to identify the victim and would urge him - or anyone who knows him - to come forward.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We need to ensure he’s received any necessary treatment and to help us establish exactly what happened and why.
