Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following Walsall attack

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an attack in Walsall on Friday night.

The victim, a woman in her 50s, remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A spokesperson for West Midlands police said: “We've arrested a man after a woman was found with stab wounds at an address in Walsall.

“We acted on information and last night detained a 24-year-old in West Bromwich on suspicion of attempted murder.

“He currently remains in custody for questioning.

“It follows an attack on a woman in her 50s in Highgate Avenue at around 7.20pm on Friday (2 August). She remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

“It's understood items were also stolen, including money, during the attack.
