Food bank calls for increase in benefits

Trussell Trust is calling for the government to increase benefits by at least 7% after figures show the food bank is delivering 29% more parcels in Birmingham than before the pandemic. The figures include over 16,000 children who received the aid from their 15 distribution centres in the city.

Lidl offers fingers fee to find a site in the city

Supermarket giant Lidl are calling on Brummies to help find a site for a new store in Birmingham, and are offering more than £20,000 to the successful spotter. The news comes as Lidl is investing £1.3 billion in its expansion.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedic has told how she beat anxiety by swapping her uniform for the catwalk in a bid to become the next winner of Miss England. The 6ft beauty queen once had to take five months off work to deal with her self-doubt and body issues, but has now landed herself a place in the semi-finals of Miss England 2022.
