Major incident declared as fire breaks out at Nechells paper plant

A major incident was declared after a fire broke out on Sunday night at a packaging plant in Nechells. Around 110 firefighters were called in to tackle the blaze at its peak, and crews are likely to remain on site for a couple of days to fully extinguish the blaze.

Tributes to motorcyclist killed in a collision in Tipton

The family of a man killed in a motorbike collision have paid tribute to the 22 year old. Ashley Kerr suffered fatal injuries when following his crash with a car in Tipton on the 22nd May. The family described him as a “funny character who lit up the room”.

Minister who described Birmingham as ‘godawful’ offered a holiday in the city

A Tory MP who sparked outrage after declaring Birmingham as “godawful” has been offered an all expenses holiday to the city. Heather Wheeler, MP for South Derbyshire, made the remark last Thursday. Hotel booking website Hoo offered the MP the free trip in response. She has since apologised for her comments.
