Banned driver killed 80 year-old woman crossing Washwood Heath Road

A banned driver who killed a pensioner before fleeing the scene has been jailed. Amaan Isa struck 80 year old Irshad Begum in Ward End on April 5th this year. He pleaded guilty to death by dangerous driving and was jailed for six years and eight months at Birmingham Crown Court.

Police officer injured at England v Hungary match at Molineux

Police are appealing for witnesses following the serious assault of a police officer before England’s Nations League match at the Molineux Stadium on Tuesday night. West Midlands Police said the officer was approached by a group of men and hit in the side of the head. He was knocked unconscious and suffered a head injury.

Pineapple Road is to be Birmingham’s latest rail station following a public vote

Following a public vote where almost 6000 residents offered their views, Birmingham’s two new railway stations on the Camp Hill Line have been named. The names chosen are Moseley Village and Pineapple Road. Construction will begin on the new stations in November this year.
