Police appeal following gunshots in Smethwick on Monday night

Police are appealing for witnesses after gunshots were fired on Windmill Crescent in Smethwick on 9pm Monday night. It is believed that a man was being chased by another man with a shotgun. No victims have come forward and police are asking anyone who saw anything to get in touch.

Brindleyplace killer jailed for five years

An Edgbaston man has been convicted of killing a ‘devoted father’ at the Slug and Lettuce in Brindleyplace last summer. Matthew Mahoney pleaded guilty to manslaughter after killing Matthew Carroll with a single punch after a disorder broke out. He has been sentenced to five years in prison.

Man charged with murder of Marena Shaban in Bordesley Green

A man has been charged with the murder of Marena Shaban. Marena died of multiple stab injuries at the entrance of her home in Bordesley Green on the 28th January. A 43 year old man was arrested yesterday and is in police custody.
