Fears crucial bus funding from central government could end

The Government’s Bus Recovery Grant, provided to cover losses during the pandemic, is set to end in March. This may lead the West Midlands Combined Authority to be called to provide an extra £50 million in funding to ensure crucial bus routes are maintained in the region.

An 85 year-old child abuser has died at HMP Birmingham 18 months into his 18 year sentence.

Alan Styles - one of the UK’s oldest paedophiles - died in prison just eight months into his sentence. After being rushed to hospital for “choking on a drink” in prison, he was allowed early release on July 7th after his health “significantly deteriorated” behind bars, and then died eight days later.

People in Lozells and Newtown are being given the chance to shape how up to £1 million is spent to prevent youth violence in their area.

The Youth Endowment Fund have announced that the people of Lozells-Newtown will get a chance to shape how an investment of up to £1 million will be spent to protect children from violence. The decision was made after six months of talks with the City Council, Police, community sector, schools and young people.
