Birmingham Airport passengers queue outside

Long queues outside of Birmingham Airport earlier today (Tuesday, June 21) have left passengers expressing their frustration. Travellers said that it took up to an hour and half to get through security. The increase in demand and lack of staff is said to be responsible for the delays.

Trains strikes get underway

Rain Unions have begun industrial action following disputes over pay, job security and working conditions. The strikes are said to be the biggest in decades, leading to a limited service and rail bosses are advising commuters to only travel if their journey is vital.

The BBC are currently in talks with the European Broadcasting Union to potentially host next year’s Eurovision Song Contest in the UK, as opposed to the winning nation Ukraine. Community leaders in Birmingham are hoping to see the contest come to the city, with Resorts World Arena being the candidate for the venue.
