78 Birmingham schools operating at over-capacity

Latest figures published by the Department of Education have revealed that 78 primary and secondary schools in Birmingham are ranked as over-capacity, by a total of 1,057 pupils. The most overcrowded school in the region is Topcliffe Primary School is Castle Vale which is 21.4% over capacity, with Christ the King Catholic School in Kingstanding coming second being 16% over capacity.

Manslaughter conviction following dessert shop feud in Ladywood

Three men have been convicted of manslaughter following a series of clashes that led to a man being fatally stabbed in Ladywood. Bashir Mohamed was chased down by a group of men in April last year after following his involvement in a shooting of a property which took place shortly before the incident.

Birmingham heading to the ballot box

The 2022 local elections will be held on Thursday 5th May. All 101 seats across 69 wards are up for grabs. Polling stations will be open between 7am and 10pm.
