A 13-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was shot in the back by Hockley Circus last night (November 18).

West Midlands Police said it understands the teenager was walking down Hockley Circus when he was shot.

He remains in hospital in a critical condition with injuries ‘believed to be life-changing’, according to the force.

Hockley Circus will remain closed for most of the morning while police conduct forensic enquiries.

Urgent appeal for witnesses

Police are appealing to anyone in the area with any information about the incident, and are asking ayone with dashcams to urgently check their footage.

A statement from the force said: “This is a busy area with lots of motorists, so we’re asking anyone with dashcams to check their footage as this may help us identify the people responsible.

“Also if you witnessed anything, please contact us as this information could provide integral to our investigation.”
