The arrest came shortly after West Midlands Police issued an appeal to find the man - urging people to contact the force immediately rather than approach Solomon, as he was also alleged to have assaulted a man who tried to stop him stealing from a car in Handsworth.

Solomon has now been charged with six counts of theft from a vehicle and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He was remanded into custody and is to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Thursday, May 18.

DI Matt Underwood, Vehicle and Priority Crime Inspector, said: “We remain committed to driving down vehicle crime across the West Midlands.

“We understand the frustration and inconvenience it causes. We will always look to act on intelligence we receive, so please get in touch if you know something isn’t right in your area.”
