Two German Shepherd dogs, severely malnourished, were discovered and rescued from a cramped cage hidden under a bush.
Buffy and Tia, both one-year-old German Shepherds, were found in a pitiful state - starved, filthy, and living amidst their own waste in a small cage in Birmingham.

The pair, likely siblings, have been under the care of Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home for eight weeks following a three-week hospital stay.
The duration for which Buffy and Tia were confined in the cage remains unknown to the RSPCA.
The inspector who found the two dogs was horrified at their overgrown nails.

The inspector, known only as Kate, shared: “They got them out the cage and I could see how thin they were, and the fact they thought it was going to be acceptable to leave them in this cage, I just thought, I’m not leaving these dogs here.
“And now to know they are with The Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home and getting all the love and care they need makes me so happy.
“To get that outcome is the whole reason I do the job."
Currently, Buffy and Tia are recuperating at The Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home, located in Gloucestershire.
Tia’s primary caregiver, an animal care assistant, said: “I’ve had the absolute pleasure of being Tia’s main carer. Watching her turn from being so anxious and stressed, into the cheeky, confident, loving and crazy dog that she is now has been my greatest pleasure.

Buffy was diagnosed with hip dysplasia following an x-ray examination and is now undergoing hydrotherapy and receiving continuous pain management. She now weighs 25.1kg.
Owing to the muscle loss both dogs suffered, they need regular, gentle exercise and interaction, and they adhere to a strict dietary regimen of small, frequent meals.
Their harrowing shared experience in the confined space has led to a preference for individual spaces, and they will be seeking separate forever homes.
