Two people have been charged with attempted murder after three men were injured after shots were fired in Handsworth in February

Two people have been charged with attempted murder after a shooting in Birmingham last month.

Three men were injured after shots were fired during a large gathering on Hamstead Road on 24 February. The three men, all aged 19, were taken to hospital but have since been discharged.

Modou Leigh, 20, of Victoria Road, Birmingham and Meshaq Berryman, 20, of Chain Walk, Birmingham, were arrested yesterday (21 March). They have now both been charged with three counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm with the intent to endanger life. Berryman has also been charged with possession with intent to supply class A and class B drugs.

The two men are set to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court tomorrow (23 March).

Det Inspector Francis Nock, from Force CID, said: “Enquiries continue into what happened in Hamstead Road that evening, and I would encourage anyone with information to get in touch.”
