Members of the RMT trade union, representing senior sonductors, had already announced strike action on Saturday 26 August and Saturday 2 September.

Additionally, members of the Aslef union, representing train drivers, have now announced strike action on Friday, 1 September and action short of a strike the day after on Saturday, 2 September. As a result, services will not operate on any West Midlands Railway route on Friday 1 September.

During the conductors strike on August 26, West Midlands Railway services will operate to a limited timetable between the hours of 7am and 7pm only. Some routes will not be served.

West Midlands Railway travel advice during strike action

  • Due to the limited timetable that will be in operation on these dates you’re advised to check your entire journey (including first and last trains) in advance and on the day you travel.
  • Trains that do operate may be very busy.
  • A small number of early morning / late evening services will also be impacted on days directly before / after strike days.
