Birmingham gears up for the Great Birmingham Run 2025. Expect significant road closures, traffic disruptions and plan alternative routes as 15,000 runners take to the streets.

Birmingham is preparing for a major city-wide event as the AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run returns this Sunday, May 4, 2025.

With 15,000 runners expected to take part in the 10K and half marathon, road closures will be in place across large parts of the city to ensure the safety of participants and spectators.

The event kicks off from Centenary Square, with both routes passing through major city landmarks including Paradise Circus, the Jewellery Quarter, the Mailbox, and New Street Station. The half marathon continues south toward Cannon Hill Park and Selly Park.

Organisers say a rolling programme of closures will begin from 4:30am and roads will reopen in phases between 12pm and 4pm, following the last runners, event breakdown, and street cleaning. Pedestrian and emergency access will be maintained throughout.
