Eight road closures in and around Birmingham drivers to avoid

Drivers in and around Birmingham will have eight National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.
And three of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

Hide AdThe latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four road closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:
• A446, from 9pm April 2 to 6am April 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 5, carriageway and lane closures for improvement works, diversion is via National Highways and local authority network.
• A446, from 6am February 12 to 6am September 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 5 to junction 8, carriageway, slip road, link road and lane closures due to technology works, diversion via National Highways network.
• M6, from 9pm September 18 2019 to 6am December 31 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6, junction 6 BC link road, 24 hour hatched area for bridge repairs.

Hide Ad• M6, from 6am January 12 to 11.59pm December 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 6 to junction 5, Hard shoulder closures with 50mph speed restriction for maintenance works.
And a further four closures will begin over the next two weeks:
• M6, from 9pm April 30 to 6am May 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 both directions, junction 5 to junction 6, lane closure for maintenance works.
• A38(M), from 10pm May 3 to 6am May 4, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 6 to junction 7, carriageway closure and lane closures for communication works, diversion via National Highways and local authority network.

• A38(M), from 9pm May 7 to 5am May 11, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A38M both directions Dartmouth Circus to M6 jct 6, carriageway closures for street lighting works, diversion via Local Highways and local authority Networks.
National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
