Tis the season! Sutton Coldfield care home residents raise money for local charities with Christmas soiree

Residents at Care UK’s Bishops Manor, on Jockey Road, were joined by the local community for an afternoon of festive fun, raising £253 for The Cancer Support Centre and Age Concern Birmingham.
The soiree included an afternoon of activities, with a tombola and Christmas classics karaoke, where participants competed for a prize for the best singer. The festive fun also included a children's arts and crafts corner with lots of creative activities, meaning there was something for everyone on the day.

Hide Ad87-year-old resident, Sidney Knight was crowned the best singer in the Christmas classics karaoke competition, with his rendition of Holly Jolly Christmas, winning a gingerbread house and an amaryllis plant.


Guests were also treated to a festive buffet with mulled wine and mocktails, prepared by the home’s Head Chef, Ben Powell.
Commenting on the afternoon, Sidney Knight, said: “It was absolutely wonderful! There was such a buzz in the bistro. I especially enjoyed the Christmas karaoke – it brought back so many fond memories of my younger days. The mince pies were delicious too, events like this really lift our spirits.
“Also, giving money to charity during this time is so important. Christmas is about sharing and caring for one another. For those of us who have a roof over our heads and a warm place to live, it’s a chance to think about those who might not be as fortunate. Helping others makes the season brighter for everyone."
