The areas in Sandwell which are falling behind in the booster rollout

People are being urged to book their Covid-19 booster jab, with thousands of people still not full protected against the Omicron variant

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that everyone aged 18 and over in England will be offered a booster from this week on a TV announcement on Sudnay night.

The new aim is to give a booster jab to all adults by the end of the month.

Latest available data from NHS England shows almost 27.2 million people aged 18 and over have still not had a booster dose.

In Sandwell an estimated 80,715 boosters had been administered by December 5, leaving an estimated 165,332 still not fully protected against Omicron.

To hit the Government’s new target an estimated 8,702 jabs will need to be administered in Sandwell each day between now (Tuesday 14 December) and the end of the year to hit the target.

The analysis is based on the number of days between Monday 13 December and the end of the year so figures are estimates.

There are geographical differences across Sandwell with some areas having administered far fewer booster shots than other areas.

Now as the Prime Minister declares an “Omicron emergency” we reveal which neighbourhoods in Sandwell are falling behind in the vaccine rollout.

1. Smethwick East

In Smethwick East, 8,205 people still need a booster jab. To vaccinate everyone in the area by the start of the new year 432 jabs need to be administered each day.

2. Smethwick North & West

In Smethwick North & West, 7,516 people still need a booster jab. To vaccinate everyone in the area by the start of the new year 396 jabs need to be administered each day.

3. Great Bridge & Dudley Port

In Great Bridge & Dudley Port, 6,824 people still need a booster jab. To vaccinate everyone in the area by the start of the new year 359 jabs need to be administered each day.

4. Tividale

In Tividale, 6,040 people still need a booster jab. To vaccinate everyone in the area by the start of the new year 318 jabs need to be administered each day.

5.Stone Cross & Hateley Heath

In Stone Cross & Hateley Heath, 5,995 people still need a booster jab. To vaccinate everyone in the area by the start of the new year, 316 jabs need to be administered each day.
