Sutton Coldfield rape

A major investigation is underway to find a rapist who attacked a woman in Sutton Coldfield last Sunday night.

Specialist detectives sealed off an area of parkland behind Princess Alice Retail Park .

The crime happened at around 10pm. Officers say it is thought the man was wearing a grey tracksuit and forensic evidence is urgently being analysed with a review of CCTV footage  being carried out.

The woman was admitted to hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Gunman in Erdington

A gunman who tried to hide a lethal gun behind a toilet when police raided his house on June 15 has been jailed.

Helder Darame stashed a loaded revolver in a communal bathroom as armed officers forced their way into a shared property in Erdington.

After pleading guilty, Darame was sentenced to five years in prison.
