The shop describes itself as “a supermarket with a twist with shelves stacked with food and products from all the major retailers, manufacturers - and brands, including Marks and Spencer, Morrisons, Nestlé, Iceland and Tesco.

It says that all items are perfectly good to eat or use, but have become “surplus” for a number of reasons including incorrect or wonky labelling, seasonal packaging or overstock.

The heavily discounted prices will help to stretch family budgets, whilst supporting the industry and simultaneously preventing good food and household products from needlessly going to waste.

The store is based at 1623/1631 Coventry Road, South Yardley, Birmingham, B26 1DD - the old Poundland site.

The Company Shop Group previously opened a store in Dudley where it says members saved over £1million on their shopping bills in the first three months since opening in March.

The Company Shop Group also said that it saved more than 500 tonnes of perfectly good food from going to waste within the first three months.
