Weather warning in place with Storm Agnes set to hit Birmingham - here’s when

Britain is braced for another storm battering this week as the Met Office issues several severe weather warnings - and says even worse could be on the way.

There will be periods of heavy rain and strong winds - up to 80 mph - across many areas of the country. Downpours and high winds are predicted to get worse throughout the week with potential for the bad weather to be officially named the UK’s first storm of the season, which will see it named Storm Agnes.

The storm is also set to hit the West Midlands with a yellow weather warning in place for wind on Wednesday (September 27) and Thursday.

Winds of up to 38mph are forecast in Birmingham between 7pm and 10pm on Wednesday as well as winds of up to 36mph during the early hours of Thursday morning (September 28).

Here’s your hour-by-hour forecast for Wednesday

From 2pm to 3pm rain is forecast with heavy rain forecast at 3pm. There will then be light showers between 5pm and 6pm this evening, with heavy showers once again forecast at 7pm. Some light rain is also expected throughout the night.

Wind gusts are expected to reach up to 30mph at 3pm today, 34mph at 4pm and 36mph at 6pm. Winds could also reach up to 37mph between 7pm and 9pm.

The strongest winds are forecast this eveing at aound 10pm when gusts are expected to reach up to 38mph. Strong winds are expected to continue through the night but will die down by early morning.
