Two men and a woman stabbed on Soho Road in Handsworth, Birmingham - streets reopened

A man has been arrested on Soho Road after two men and a woman were found with injuries, believed to be stab wounds. Police have since announced that the man has died.
West Midlands Police were called to the scene at 3.20am this morning (Thursday, December 22). They had closed off an area on the Soho Road between Boulton Road and Grove Road while they investigate.

Hide AdThe A41 Soho Road in Handsworth has reopened both ways. A4040 Boulton Road and Rookery Road are also open at the junction of Soho Road.
A spokesperson for WMP said: “The road will be closed this morning while officers establish the circumstances around what has happened. We’ll provide more details in due course. Commuters and transport companies are advised to make alternative arrangements to navigate Soho Road.”
The force updated at 10.45am saying: “We’ve arrested a man after one person was fatally stabbed and two others were injured in Handsworth this morning. One person was found in Soho Road with critical injuries at around 3.20am. They were taken to hospital where they sadly later died.”
National Express posted on Twitter: “No service on Handsworth New Road Boulton Road Rookery Road Oxhill Road or Church Lane. service 101 diverted via Goode St Heaton St Soho Hill and Hamstead Road No service on Lodge Road, Boulton Road and Rookery Road Apologies for any inconvenience.”

Hide AdTranspor for West Midlands added: “Closure will affect @nxwestmidlands 74, 11A, 11C and 101.” Soho Road BID said: “Please note there is no access to buildings/properties within this area and bus routes are diverted.”


The latest police statement said: “We’ve arrested a man after one person was fatally stabbed and two others were injured in Handsworth this morning.
“One person was found in Soho Road with critical injuries at around 3.20am. They were taken to hospital where they sadly later died.
“We’re in the process of informing their next of kin and we’ll be doing all we can to support them at this devastating time. Two others also been taken to hospital to be treated for stab injuries. We’re working to establish if anyone else was injured, and if so we’d urge them to contact us.

Hide Ad“A 24-year-old man has been detained and is currently in police custody. He will be questioned on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
“Part of Soho Road has been cordoned off while enquiries continue. Anyone with information can contact us via log 347 of 22 December. We’ll look to provide further updates in due course.”
