Police patrols stepped up in Sparkhill & Alum Rock after two separate disorder incidents

Four men were injured in two separate disorder incidents in Sparkhill and Alum Rock in Birmingham yesterday (Tuesday, June 27).
Police said they do not believe the two separate incidents are linked - but they are stepping up patrols in each area to offer reassurance to residents as they continue to investigate.

Hide AdThe first incident took place in Alum Rock Road, near the junction of Pelham Road at 12.40pm. Officers said it involved a number of people with weapons. Two men aged 23 and a 31-year-old man suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital where they remain under hospital arrest. Another man who was also arrested at the scene on suspicion of violent disorder remains in custody.
The second incident of disorder took place in Sparkhill Park shortly after 8pm last night (Tuesday, June 27). Two men were found with stab injuries on Hillfield Road near to the junction of Stratford Road. The men aged 26 and 19 remain in hospital in a stable condition.
Detective Inspector Junior Stephens from CID at Birmingham Police, said: “An investigation us underway to understand the circumstances of each incident and I would urge anyone with information to get in touch. If you have any video footage, we would ask you to send it to us on the link provided below.
“We understand that such incidents cause concern within communities and have stepped up patrols to offer reassurance to our communities. Violence like this will not be tolerated in our city and action against those involved will be taken.”
