Solihull planners have given the green light to the latest Kingshurst village centre application.

A significant revamp of the area is taking place to create a new village for people in the north of the borough.

The scheme won planning approval from Solihull Council in April 2022 and the aim is for it to be completed by 2026.

Once finished the new development will include 78 new homes containing a mix of three and four-bedroom properties as well as one-bedroom maisonettes, the majority of which will be socially rented housing.

The plans for a new village also include new shops, a health hub and a “general retail space.”

In May the applicant applied to sign off preparatory conditions which feature in the planning permission agreement.

The application was to formally ‘discharge’ conditions 13 (landscape and ecological management plans), 24 (traffic regulation order speed), 25 (traffic regulation order parking), 26 (travel plan), 38 (landscape maintenance), and 48 (relocation of art).

The applicant also applied to part discharge conditions 10 (ventilation), 40 (large mowing gates), 45 (fencing), 46 (signage scheme) and 47 (refuse).

And following a consultation process Solihull planners approved the application on Monday, (November 18).

The first phase to create 25 sustainable council homes on the old Mountfort pub site began earlier this year when Solihull Council leader Ian Courts said: “This has been a complex scheme from the start and one that we have always been determined to get right.

“A huge amount of work has gone on in the background to get to this point, so it’s really exciting to now see the builders on site.”
