Acting Det Sgt Chris Ridge, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts today are with the family of the motorbike rider who has sadly lost his life.

“We’re in the early stages of the investigation to establish exactly what happened and officers have already spoken with a number of people at the scene.

“We’d also appeal for any witnesses who we’ve not yet spoken with, or any drivers who were in the area and have dashcam footage, to get in contact.”
