Soho Road fatal collision: Locals react following a fatal collision with an Audi in Handsworth, Birmingham

A fatal collision involving six cars on Soho Road in Handsworth, Birmingham, has left one man dead and two others injured. The incident occurred at around 8.20pm on Sunday (February 18), when an Audi hit a number of stationary vehicles at high speed. 

A passenger in his 30s, who was in one of the parked cars, sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people were taken to hospital for treatment. A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and was taken to hospital for treatment. He will be questioned after his treatment.

The crash has shocked and saddened the local community, who have expressed their condolences and anger. Some residents have shared videos and pictures of the aftermath of the collision, showing the damaged cars and debris on the road. Others have called for more traffic enforcement and safety measures on the busy street, which is known for its shops and restaurants. 

“I am shocked by the incident. I was on my way home from work an hour before this crash. I can’t comprehend how fast he was driving (as seen on the video) and what was going through his mind.” said Kadaijah, a local of Soho road. 

“I live near Soho Road and I’m fed up with the reckless drivers who use it as a racetrack. They endanger the lives of innocent people and cause chaos and damage. The authorities need to do something to stop them. They have to enforce more speed limits and speed bumps and take other preventive measures. They need to make Soho Road safer for everyone.” said Raj, a local resident near Soho Road

“I work on Soho Road and I saw the crash online. It was a horrifying sight. The Audi was totally destroyed and the other cars were badly damaged. It was a terrible tragedy that occurred there. I’m sending my condolences and support to the victim’s loved ones. Soho Road is a lively and vibrant area, and people should have the freedom to enjoy it without the risk of losing their lives, because of the irresponsible driving that occurs frequently on this road.” said Suman, a shop assistant on Soho road.
