First look at Soho Wharf - the new waterfront Birmingham neighbourhood on Dudley Road

Soho Wharf on Dudley Road is set to have homes to move into from March 1 - with a 20% rent discount on some properties

Offering a vibrant new build-to-rent scheme comprising 752 high-quality homes, Soho Wharf is set to become one of Birmingham’s most exciting new neighbourhoods to live in.

The first phase of the development will be complete this weekend (February 27) - featuring 99 apartments and 24 townhouses, with some available to move into from next Wednesday (March 1 2023).

Located in the heart of Birmingham, just south of the city centre on Dudley Road, Soho Wharf is offering a truly special lifestyle. The pet-friendly properties feature beautifully landscaped gardens and public waterfront spaces sitting on the Birmingham Canal Old Line.

In total there will be 650 one and two-bedroom apartments and 102 two and three-bedroom townhouses. The apartments are ideal for young professionals or students looking to live 10 minutes from Birmingham city centre, whilst the townhouses are perfect for families with children.

Another tempting point of interest is that 61 of the  99 apartments and three of the 24 townhouses are discounted to 20% market rent, offering affordable units.

Modern furnishings and neutral tones offer a contemporary living space in the apartments, each complete with high spec, modern bathrooms and fully fitted kitchens using Smeg appliances. The majority of apartments also include private balconies, and for those with their own furniture, 10% of the apartments available will remain unfurnished.

The townhouses are laid out in a semi-detached fashion and all benefit from generously sized private gardens, balconies, and their own dedicated carpark space. Children can also enjoy the fully equipped onsite playground, and Barford Primary school is a stone’s throw away, rated Good by Ofsted.

With a key focus on sustainability, the townhouses are also all fitted with solar panels along with electrical charging points in the carpark spaces. Two central green spaces, The Meadow and the Garden, total 38% of the site, providing a vast amount of desirable outdoor space and a community feel.

Another green space located canal-side will provide fluid connectivity for direct access to the city centre via a new public bridge which is set to open on 3rd April 2023.

Soho Wharf is being funded by Heimstaden Bostad, a leading residential real estate company who offer long-term rentals throughout Europe with the vision of enriching peoples’ lives through their ‘Friendly Homes’ ethos.

Amit Kumar, Heimstaden UK Head of Operations, comments: “We’re delighted to be able to launch this vibrant new neighbourhood in Birmingham. Each element has been carefully designed to offer an inclusive community feel amongst the residents, whilst being extremely well-connected to the city centre and surrounding popular districts via the new footbridge.

“Our vision for Soho Wharf was to offer sustainable, Friendly Homes which cater for a range of demographics, complete with high quality, on-site amenities meaning residents can enjoy an easy way of living with everything they need right on their doorstep”.

The first phase of the development will be completed by February 27, the second phase by April 26, and the third phase by June 2023.
