Christmas has arrived in Birmingham - and it’s looking absolutely spectacular!
Luna Springs, the exciting Digbeth venue that opened earlier this year on Lower Trinity Street, is hosting the city’s first festive event for 2021.
“It’s never too early for Christmas,” the organisers say.
And they’re right.
From Saturday (October 23) you are invited to come and enjoy one of the best Christmas experiences hosted in Birmingham.
The Luna Springs Christmas Spectacular features the Digbeth Ice Rink - and so much more!
Over the coming weeks there will be a Santa Jazz Band, The Nutcracker on Ice, Bavarian Bands, The Bad Santa Christmas Show – and real life reindeer!
Children are welcome too.
BirminghamWorld were invited to the venue to get a sneak peek of how the plans are coming together.
Why are Luna Springs launching Christmas in October?
Andrew Sutton, Luna Springs ge, told us: “We’re just putting the finishing touches to everywhere.
“We’re open from Saturday, and then all the way until Christmas. It’s been a massive transformation over the summer.
“If anyone has been here before, it was very much set out with benches - it was a very summer vibe.
“We’ve just had a few events on. And now we come to the winter part. We think it’s never too early for Christmas. There’s a lot of people who don’t think it should kick in until December, but people will be able to come down and ice skate and enjoy some Bad Santa karaoke and sing a long to some Christmas tunes.
“After the last 18 months, we’ve all needed as much Christmas cheer this year as possible.
“Last year, it was like Christmas didn’t really exist for anyone, and it’s so nice nowt hat you look at this now 12 months on, and we thought - why not kick the party off a bit earlier this year and get things going in October, rather than December.
“We’ve had a few people come round and have a look at the venue - and the feedback we’ve had has been amazing.
“Loads of stuff going on. There’s ice skating -where kids are more than welcome.
“We’ve got Camp Luna in there with karaoke, Untold Orchestra - a 13 piece band, funk, soul, hip hop - you name it.
“I think everyone is just going to have a great Christmas.
Where exactly is the Digbeth Ice Rink?
Where Luna Springs’ al fresco stage once sat will be transformed into a 20m x 10m ice rink with a line-up of exciting ice-related shenanigans.
Part of the stage will remain in situ against the ice rink, whereas the rest will be placed within Camp Luna.
As well as regular ice-skating slots, there will be a host of experiences for guests to book from ice zorbing to curling, as well as ice skating lessons.
There are plenty of facilities including a bar which will be offering festive cocktails, seating areas and live music at selected times.
The Digbeth Ice Rink will be open from 10am-10pm**.
What’s happening at Camp Luna?
Camp Luna is home to a giant 500 covers-strong festive marquee.
It will provide Camp guests respite from the great British weather and an extravagant location for festive parties.
The winter season of entertainment will take in the Ultimate Battle of the Bavarian banss, a Santa Jazz Band, Voice of London Gospel Carols, a Christmas gift-off/ swap shop and The Bad Santa Christmas Show as well as Bongo’s Bingo and the Untold Orchestra.
Under the Luna Springs arches will be host to a multitude of festival treats and outlandish activities – check out the Luna Springs website for more information
