Teenager Haider Ali Shabir charged with Smethwick shooting attempted murder

Police have charged teeanger Haider Ali Shabir with attempted murder after shots were fired at City Computers in Smethwick last week.

Two men in their 40s were treated for non life-threatening injuries. Shabir was remanded in custody after appearing at Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court this morning (Tuesday, January 17) and is due before the crown court on February 13.

Another man arrested following the incident on Thursday (12 Jan) in Bertram Road has been released on police bail. Police said they have arrested a further four people aged between 20 and 23 after traffic officers stopped a vehicle in Walsall overnight.

Detectives investigating the case have also conducted a warrant this morning at a house in Walsall where a 22-year-old man was arrested. All five remain in custody for questioning on suspicion of attempted murder.
