Three men jailed for City Computers shooting in Smethwick

Police are continuing their investigations into the shooting at City Computers in Smethwick amid fears suspects have fled the country

Three men have been jailed for a combined total of more than 25 years after shots were fired at a business premises in Smethwick earlier this year.

Just after midday on 12 January, officers were called to reports of shots being fired at City Computers, on Bertram Road in Smethwick. Two men in their 40s were treated for injuries which fortunately were not life threatening.

Appearing at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Friday (August 11) Haider Shabir, from Walsall was jailed for 14 years  along with Mohammed Uwais, also from Walsall, who was jailed for nine years and ten months for possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Mohammed Tayyib Wajid of Jessel Road, Walsall was sentenced to 21 months in prison for assisting an offender. Shabir, aged 20, Latif, 23, and 25-year-old Wajid admitted to charges brought against them at an earlier hearing. A further defendant, 20-year-old Ahmed Aumair from Walsall has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, criminal damage and firearms offences. He is scheduled to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court later this month.
