Police are appealing for information following the incident

A 29-year-old man was left in a critical condition in hospital after being struck by a car which didn’t stop in Smethwick.

The man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham after being hit by a vehicle on Queens Road near to the junction with Wall Close, shortly before 1am this morning (May 8).

Sergeant Richard Moors, from the Motorway Policing Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are in the early stages of our investigation and we would appeal for people with information to come forward.

“We would urge people who may have seen the collision to get in touch. We would also like to speak to witnesses or anyone who may have any dash cam footage to help us understand exactly what has happened.”
