Small Heath: man dies after being hit by a car - one arrest made

Police are appealing for information after a man died when he was hit by a car in Small Heath yesterday afternoon (7 June).

The man, in his 50s, was struck by a Vauxhall Corsa along Coventry Road at just after 2.50pm.

He suffered serious injuries and was confirmed dead shortly afterwards.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been released under investigation while enquiries into the collision continue.

A statement from West Midlands Police, read: “Our thoughts are with the friends and family of the man who died and we’ll be offering them support during this devastating time.

“We’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the area - between Small Heath Highway and Tennyson Road - at the time and has not spoken to officers already. We’re particularly interested in any dash cam footage.
