‘Slam guns’ and knives seized as five teens arrested in Birmingham

Police made the arrests on Wednesday night

Five teenagers are in custody after officers found two improvised guns and two knives in a car in Birmingham.

The potentially lethal weapons were seized following a police pursuit in Aston just before midnight (21 June). Traffic and firearms officers, along with the help of the police helicopter and dog unit, helped to stop and arrest the occupants of the car on Hanley Street, Aston.

The five, aged 16 to 18, remain in custody for questioning. Officers recovered two slam guns, which are improvised firearms, and two Rambo knives at the scene.

A statement from the force, read: “This comes after we’ve launched Operation Target, which sees us take a defiant stand against a range of serious and organised crime offences.
