The attack took place near Barford Primary School in Winson Green, Birmingham

Six people have been injured following dog attacks near a primary school in Birmingham this evening (Tuesday, April 18).

Those injured were treated in hospital following the incident near Barford Primary School in Willow Gardens, Winson Green, according to the BBC. Police have arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of possessing a dog dangerously out of control following the incident.

The report states that parents and carers were sent a text about ‘potentially very dangerous dogs circling the school’. Children were kept behind in the school for around an hour as they were set to leave for the day while emergency services dealt with the incident. Parents were also advised to remain in their cars.

An elderly man was treated in hospital for the attack, with five others also reporting to hospital for treatment. Police said none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
