The man was jailed for theft while a woman has been charged for another theft incident in Solihull

A man has been jailed after he targeted a Tesco store on Stratford Road, Shirley.

The 43-year-old repeatedly targeted the store during August and assaulted staff as he escaped with the stolen items. West Midlands Police were able identify the offender with the support from the store.

He pleaded guilty at court on August 31 and was jailed for 26 weeks. A 40-year-old woman has also been charged with theft and will appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court on October 19. West Midlands Police said: “Dealing with and reducing thefts is a priority for officers in Shirley.
