Commonwealth Games: All the Sandwell road closures for the Queen’s Baton Relay

The Birmingham 2022 Queen’s Baton Relay will be covering nearly the whole of the West Midlands as part of its final stages of the event.

As part of the build up for the Commonwealth Games, starting on July 28th, the relay hopes to bring communities together to build excitement for the event. Sandwell will be one of only two areas in the region to have the baton for the whole day meaning that 100 batonbearers will be taking to the streets.

The Birmingham 2022 Queen’s Baton Relay has already travelled all over the world and is covering the 72 nations and territories in the Commonwealth, and it will arrive in Sandwell on Monday (25 July).

Road closures

Road closures will be operational across Sandwell’s six towns from 07.00am to 7.30pm, access for vehicles (except for emergency service vehicles) will be prohibited. Roads will be closed by a mixture of Hard (vehicle blocking access) and Soft (barrier & steward) closures

Timings for each town are as follows: Oldbury 7.00am – 9.00am Wednesbury 8.00am – 10.30am Tipton 10.00am – 12.30pm Cradley Heath 11.00am – 1.30pm Rowley Regis 12.00pm – 2.30pm Smethwick 2.00pm – 5.30pm West Bromwich 4.30pm – 7.30pm
