King Charles III’s Coronation is set to take place on Saturday, May 6 – with an extra bank holiday being announced for Monday, May 8 as the country celebrates.
During the ceremony the King will be crowned alongside Camilla, the Queen Consort. Following the coronation there will be an extra bank holiday on Monday 8 May to allow people to ‘come together and celebrate’.
Sandwell residents are set to take to the streets, with parties being held across the borough over the Coronation weekend. At the Sandwell Valley Countrypark in West Bromwich, a free live screening of the Coronation Concert being held at Windsor Castle will take place on Sunday, May 7. Diverse performances from entertainers from across Sandwell will also be held before the concert gets underway.
There will also be fair rides, community stalls and children’s crafts and games at the countrypark. A Coronation Big Picnic Lunch will also be takig place with the mayor Richard Jones on Sunday. The Sandwell Valley Coronation Big Lunch will be a picnic with the Mayor and all are welcome. Residents can bring sandwiches, snacks and drinks and join the Mayor celebrating the King’s Coronation.
It’s sure to be a great weekend, with a number of street parties taking place across the borough as well. The following is a list of street party road closures between May 6 to May 8 to help residents with their travel plans. We have listed the streets closed on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
