Road closures: more than a dozen for Birmingham drivers this week

Here’s the latest on road closures in and around Birmingham from the National Highways

Drivers in and around Birmingham will have 18 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And five of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that seven closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M6, from 9pm January 15 to 6am January 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 3 to junction 4, lane closures for flooding remedial works.

M6, from 9pm January 12 to 6am January 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 5, lane closures for safety barrier works.

M6, from 9.30pm June 22 2021 to 5.30am March 25 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 6, Lane closures for safety critical inspections.

M6, from 9pm October 30 2021 to 6am March 26 2022, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 6 to A38M into City AC and BC link roads, carriageway closure for installation of 24/7 hard shoulder closure for structure works.

A38(M), from 9pm November 29 2021 to 6am March 31 2022, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A38M, junction 6 M6, link road closures with speed restrictions for structural repairs.

M6, from 9pm September 18 2019 to 6am December 31 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6, junction 6 BC link road, 24 hour hatched area for bridge repairs.

A5, from 9pm December 8 2021 to 5.30am September 30 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A5 westbound, hints bypass between the A453 and A38 junctions, (tamworth to lichfield), temporary speed limit and Lane closure with switching for general construction works.

And a further 11 closures will begin over the next seven days:

M42, from 9pm January 17 to 6am May 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 10a to junction 4a, hard shoulder and lane closure with link road closures for access to the emergency refuge bays to upgrade signage.

M6, from 10pm January 17 to 6am February 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6, junction 6 exit slips to Salford Circus northbound and southbound, Lane closures leading to closure of slips to Salford Circus.

M6, from 9pm January 18 to 6am January 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 5 to junction 6, lane closures for safety barrier repairs.

M6, from 10pm January 20 to 6am January 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound to M6 southbound, link road, junction 7, hard shoulder and lane closure for technology repairs.

M6, from 9pm January 21 to 6am January 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 3A to junction 3, lane closure with switching for carriageway repairs.

M6, from 9pm January 21 to 6am January 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 from, junction 6 to junction 7 northbound and southbound, lane closures for safety barrier repairs.

A4123, from 8pm January 24 to 6am January 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound and South exit slips, junction 1, Full slip closures for local authority works on behalf of Sandwell CC.

A456, from 10.30pm January 24 to 5.30am February 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A456 / M5, junction 3 roundabout and M5, junction 3 southbound, exit slip, Lane closures to support off network closure of the Quinton Expressway.

M6, from 10pm January 26 to 6am January 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 6 to 4A and junction 5 southbound, entry slip, Lane closures for technology repairs.

M6, from 9.30am January 27 to 3pm January 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, Juncion five to junction 6 , Hard Shoulder Only for inspection/survey.

M6, from 10pm January 31 to 6am March 11, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 - A38M northbound and southbound, Lane closure and carriageway closure for structural repairs.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
