A busy road in Birmingham city centre is currently closed off due to an ongoing incident.

The access route, Bennetts Hill, connecting Colmore Row with New Street, is sealed off to both vehicles and pedestrians by police.

Wst Midlands Police said that authorities initiated the closure around 2pm today (Tuesday, March 19), instructing individuals in nearby offices, eateries, and shops to remain indoors.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Police said: "We were called following concerns for a woman on a window sill of an apartment building in Bennetts Hill. She fell and has been taken to hospital. The circumstances of the fall are currently being investigated."

Police are urging the community to refrain from speculation and to avoid sharing any related imagery or video content of the incident.
