The day is gives us to reflect on the sacrifices of veterans and service personnel have made to protect our freedoms and way of life.

The parade, carried out to commemorate the servicemen and women who lost their lives in war and military conflict, was attended by military veterans and Armed Forces representatives. It took place opposite the Cathedral on Colmore Row.

Lord Mayor Maureen Cornish, Southside BID chairman Lawrence Barton, and members of the Birmingham City Council attended the event.

Birmingham City Council said: “Today (November 13) we marked Remembrance Sunday with our civic service & parade on Colmore Row, and tonight the Library of Birminghamwill be lit red, white and blue as we remember those who have lost their lives to war and conflict.”

Together, everyone observed a two-minute silence across the country at 11am. The national silence across the country was lead by King Charles. He was at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, London, along with other members of the Royal Family, senior politicians and faith representatives.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak previously said: “This year more than ever, we are reminded of the huge debt of gratitude we owe those who lay down their lives to protect their country.

“As we fall silent together on Remembrance Sunday, we will honour the memories of the men and women we have lost and pay tribute to the brave soldiers of Ukraine as they continue their fight for freedom.”
