Queen Elizabeth II, who died on Thursday, 8 September aged 96, sat on the British throne for an incredible 70 years and is the longest-reigning monarch in the history of the United Kingdom.

Her Majesty’s passing has sent shock waves through the nation as the country prepares for a period of mourning.
